Google Releases June 2024 Spam Update

Media/News

Google announced the release of the June 2024 spam update on X on June 20, 2024. The announcement explained that the update would take one week to roll out and would be posted when it’s completed in the Google Search Status Dashboard.

While Google has not shared any further details about the update at this time, rest assured that this blog post will be promptly updated if more information becomes available.

Google states in its documentation that spam updates occur throughout the year to make notable improvements to its automated spam detection systems.

If you see a change to your site after the spam update, Google advises you to review its spam policies to ensure the sites are complying.

“Making changes may help a site improve if our automated systems learn over a period of months that the site complies with our spam policies.”

In the case of a link spam update, changes made to the site may not help due to the fact that the ranking benefit of the spammy links has been removed. Google has not stated that this is a link spam update.

The last spam update was released on March 5, 2024, along with the March 2024 Core update

Google Search Liaison Danny Sullivan has confirmed that this update is not connected to the site reputation abuse algorithmically. Follow the conversation on X.
